Thanks to a 90-year experience in manufacturing high quality valves, technological know-how and the on-site internal bronze foundry, Conti was able to successfully design, engineer and manufacture a dedicated Aluminum-bronze line of products. Aluminum-bronze valves are available in different pressure categories, sizes and styles.
The corrosion rate is the single most important variable when trying to estimate service life of a valve and the suitability of each metal. Aluminum-bronze is a type of bronze in which aluminum is the main alloying metal added to copper, in contrast to standard bronze (copper and tin) or brass (copper and zinc). Aluminum bronze is the highest strength standard copper based alloy and is used where higher mechanical properties are required. Valves in this special alloy are most valued for their exceptional corrosion resistance, toughness and strength as compared to other bronze alloys. They are suitable for seawater service and especially good for applications subject to: pitting corrosion, stress corrosion and corrosion fatigue. Aluminum-bronze is a prime material choice for the construction of valves not only for strength and corrosion resistance but also because it has a good castability, it is weldable and can be used as trim material as well.
